Still on a Summer High

So, I've been hanging out in the house and haven't been able to go out into the world and experience too many excitingly happy moments. BUT, I did make a 'summer to do list'. I make one every summer but I never actually do anything. So hopefully this summer I will. (fingers crossed)
Here's some of the things on my list:

  1. Make a Laptop case
  2. Try to make a skirt from a skirt tutorial I found
  3. 20 Happy Things (for my birthday... I'll explain more about this later probably)
  4. Read (There are quite a few books I've been meaning to read)
  5. Re-read ( I really want to re-read some of my favorite books because I can feel some of the details slipping from my mind 0-0)
  6. Cake decorating
  7. Write letters and actually SEND THEM
  8. Learn how to wear a sari
  9. See the Band Perry on July 4th!!
... and a few other things I'll keep to myself. :)

Another thing I'm excited about: I'm pre-ordering the Khaled Hosseni book And the Mountains Echoed as an early birthday gift to myself since it comes out 5 days before my birthday. :D

I absolutely loved, loved, loved his other two books (Kite Runner and a Thousand Splendid Suns) so I'm really excited about this new book. His writing is just so moving. I hope this one won't disappoint.

"It was only a smile, nothing more. It didn't make everything all right. It didn't make ANYTHING all right. Only a smile. A tiny thing. A leaf in the woods, shaking in the wake of a startled bird's flight. But I'll take it. With open arms. Because when spring comes, it melts the snow one flake at a time, and maybe I just witnessed the first flake melting." ~ Amir (Khaled Hosseni's Kite Runner)
