Powering through bio

So today is GORGEOUS. again. and I'm studying. AGAIN. :( It's Saturday and everyone was chilling outside because most people are done with midterms. But I have a biology exam on Monday and there's SO MUCH material to cover. It's going over all the systems in great detail. So I stayed in all day. But I got a lot of work done. I cleaned off my desk and it was just me, my laptop, and my notebook. I meant business.

my set up

I was quiet proud of myself. :D Hopefully, it all pays off!!

Mother Language Day

Happy International Mother Language day!!
For those who don't know, it's a day recognizing the language movement of Bangladesh, the only country to fight for the right to speak their language. It's obviously a special day for us, Bangladeshis, and I wore my Tagdoom Tagdoom shirt.

My Shirt

So it says "Tagdoom Tagdoom Baje Bangladesh-er Dhol"
That means Tagdoom Tagdoom goes my Bangladeshi drums. :D

Anyway, be proud of your mother language ya'll!! <3

Calm Before the Storm

Another absolutely gorgeous day!! It was in the high 70s!!!

I woke up and it was so bright outside for a second I thought it snowed! And I was like nooo!! It's supposed to be warm. I look outside and its absolutely gorgeous. But I had to stay in and finish an assignment. I still wore a dress today though. It was so much fun walking to class in my flowy dress. :D ... and then I came back to common room to study.
Me chillin (writing a paper) in the common room

It's a good thing I got in when I did though because then it started pouring!! It was a really bad storm and the tornado siren was going off really loud. But everything is all good now, even though its cold again. :( At least I got the last 2 days. :D Plus I just turned in the last paper of the week, so I'm a lot calmer now.

A Moment of Spring

So today was absolutely beautiful!!! Outside I mean. The temperature was in the mid 60s and it was sunny.

the weather

Basically everything spring is supposed to be- which was a really nice break from the insane cold we have been having this winter. Everyone was walking around in their spring clothes and I was so tempted to wear  a dress today but I had to go into lab so I had to wear pants. At least I wore a spring-y shirt! I would have loved to just lounge outside on my picnic mat, but this is Crazy Week so I have absolutely no time. I'm running on 3 hours of sleep 2 nights in a row. But the nice weather really woke me up and I did eat and work outside as much as possible. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer but it will be stormy so I don't think anyone will be enjoying the outdoors. And then it will get really cold again. The weather is just all over the place. Ah, well... it was nice while it lasted. :D

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So this week and next week is going to be CRAZY. I'm just going to be on the go, doing things, finishing assignments, taking exams, etc. I though I was going to have to pull an all-niter last night to get my stuff done but instead this morning I got a whole 8 hours of sleep!! It was sooo great!! I don't even know how to explain how amazing that sleep was, especially now. It was an accident but I'm glad it happened because I don't know when I'm going to be able to get a decent night's sleep next. Probably not until next Monday after my Biology exam. I am a bit overwhelmed right now... if you can't tell... but I'm just telling myself to get through these 2 weeks and then it will be Spring Break! and I can sleep!! in my own wonderful bed, in my own wonderful room.

Now... back to my assignments as I pull an all-niter tonight instead. I'm so tired!!!

Fast-a-Thon

After a day of fasting, I had such a great time at the Fast-A-Thon tonight to raise money for Refugee Relief.

It felt so good to do something for all these people who are living day-to-day and have nowhere else to turn. We fasted all day to get ourselves on the right path and make good intentions to help others who need it. Allowing refugees to live they way they do is unbearable and we are responsible for doing something about it. We had some great speakers to talk about fasting, refugees, and Islamic Awareness Month here at Vanderbilt this month. Videos from the organizations that our donations will be going to really brought home the message of how stark the reality really is in these areas. In addition we had some yummy food which never hurts especially after a day of fasting! :D Two Vanderbilt student musical groups performed and gave us some much needed entertainment this Sunday night. Lovely and inspiring night!!

Carpe DM

AHHH!! What a fun Saturday night!! I just got back from Dance Marathon (DM), where they raise money for the children's hospital in a 13.1 hour dancing event (thus the name Dance Marathon).

My hospital bracelet for registering

I didn't go for 13.1 hours, I went around 7:45pm and figured I would leave after a while but I had so much fun! There was great music, I definitely danced the cupid shuffle, learned how to wobble, twirled with my friends, and kind of just flailed around to the Morale dance which they danced to every hour. Each hour was also themed, such as 'western', 'around the world', 'luau', 'Disney', and 'pajama'. I went in during the 'America' themed hour so I was wearing my red, white, and blue. :D but then I also got a lei at the event for the luau hour, a foam tiara for Disney hour, and glow sticks for... I don't know. just because I guess. :D but I love glow sticks! They also had a lot of food, like chick-fil-e and then pancakes and donuts at midnight. The photo booth... was amusing and I also got a caricature done with a friend. But the best part of the evening was in the bouncy slide. ahhhh... so many laughs!! We found so many new and better ways to go down the slide- some better than others. We may have scared a little girl with all the fun we were having but that's okay. So much fun for such a great cause! and now I'm worn out and I'm going to bed. Goodnight!! FTK!! (For The Kids)

Happy LOVE Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I hope everyone's been having a love-filled day whether you have a valentine or not. ;)

Today the weather was so nice (it was about 50 degrees!!) and I bought flowers this morning! Not just any flowers, my favorite flowers, RED ROSES! There's just something so classic about red roses. :) and what better day to buy them then valentine's day! We were selling them for Volunteers Around the World as a fundraiser and I bought them for my friends and family. <3

The last few flowers

I bought a carnation too. :)

I printed the tags for them from the Disney blog here
And then on top of that my parents came to visit and they got me a valentine's gift!!
A pink, soft sweater and Pecan caramel Fudge!!!

So much love!! <3 <3 <3

Sunny Side Up on a Rainy Day

A friend of mine posted a picture of her breakfast that she made earlier this week.
Photo: Tomato, basil, and egg pita breakfast. I have so many great ideas. ;)

Looks absolutely delicious right???
Ever since I saw that picture, I've been craving a sunny-side up! Like, sooo badly!! And my Mama made me one today for lunch!! And she made extra care not to pop the yolk b/c I like it to stay whole until the very end when I put the whole "sun" in my mouth. It was soo yummy! :D Just made this gloomy day so much happier!

And now it's back to homework. :p

Pumped up Kicks

First a story....
On Monday, I was walking to class and as I was passing right in front of a building, with students streaming in and out, I fell. And I don't mean stumbled and touched the ground, I mean I was on the ground. I felt myself go off balance and then I wasn't able to catch myself and when I felt that backpack sliding forward, I kind of just gave up and let gravity do its thing. It was embarrassing obviously, especially because everyone and their mother had to ask me if I was okay.

Anyway, I couldn't figure out why I was off balance in the first place and figured it was because I had just pulled an all-niter. But then I was off balance for the rest of the week too! So that's when I realized that a part the heel on my sneakers broke off!! Not enough for me to notice if I wasn't looking at my sneakers but enough for me to be slightly off balance and not be able to catch myself.
So... on Saturday, my parents took me out to Opry Mills Mall and I got new sneakers!!! :D

New Sneakers!!

I was looking for a more... subtle color. I'm not sure how I feel about the brightness of it all but they are cute. :D And maybe now I'll work out more!

Yule Ball

I think the title speaks for itself. :) I went to the Commons Annual Winter Ball on Friday which was themed "Yule Ball" this year.

They always go all out for the Commons Winter Ball with their decorations and sure enough the dining hall wall all decked out with chandeliers and hanging crystal like decor. Lots of food and dessert (I had a butterbeer cupcake myself. :D), a wandshop to make your own wand, photo booth, candy trolley, and quidditch field. Apparently they had birds too, but I must have missed it. Overall, a pretty great night with my wonderful friends!!
My souvenirs from the night

It's a good thing I have my lovely friends to be my date so I don't end up like Ron. ;)

Ginny: [helping a speechless and queasy looking Ron into the common room] It's ok, Ron. It's alright. It doesn't matter.
Harry: What happened to you?
Ginny: He just asked Fleur Delacour out.
Hermione: What?
Harry: What did she say?
Hermione: No, of course.
[Ron shakes his head in pained embarrassment]
Hermione: She said yes?
Ron: Don't be silly. There she was, just walking by... you know how I like it when they walk... I couldn't help it... it just sort of slipped out!
Ginny: Actually, he sort of screamed at her. It was a bit frightening.
Harry: What did you do then?
Ron: What else? I ran for it!

Brrrrrrr!!!

It's SO COLD!!
So, I'm behind on my blog posts... again. :p But this time it's only been a few days instead of months. ;)

Like I said today is really cold- for Nashville anyway. Waking up for my 9:30 am class was not a easy task. I just wanted to stay wrapped up in my covers....

... or hair I guess. LOL. But, I was strong and I got up and went to class. :) But today has been pretty un-eventful. Class, eat, class, eat, .... and the cycle continues. I guess the bright side of today is the fact that I got up and went to class when I was sooo tempted to stay in bed. Let me tell you- It took a lot of willpower! Happy Winter Olympics!!
